Ricordata come risultato di uno dei più illustri carrozzieri britannici, ricordato principalmente per le sue sublimi Bentley d'epoca, l'azienda di Vanden Plas fu acquisita da BMC nel 1946 e proposta come marchio alcuni anni dopo. Negli anni '60 e '70 il nome è stato usato per le versioni top di gamma dei modelli Austin-Morris, in particolare il 1100 e il 1300. Vanden Plas a Londra ha arricchito l'auto con interni lussuosi, a lungo associati all'azienda, utilizzando abbondanti finiture in legno impiallacciato e rivestimenti in pelle. Inoltre ha montato una griglia distintiva davanti e il proprio badge. Il motore specificato era lo stesso a doppio carburatore montato sulla MG 1100/1300. La versione 1.3 da 65 CV era in grado di raggiungere una velocità massima di 145 km/h. Oggi la Vanden Plas è di gran lunga una delle più collezionabili inglesi della famiglia 1100/1300 ed è molto ricercata.
In particolare, la finitura del modello qui proposto è bicolore in Teal Blue e bianco con interni bianchi coordinati. Questo esemplare sembra aver percorso 68.243 km, come si legge sul contachilometri. Ha documenti italiani con certificazione storica. One of the most illustrious of Britain's coachbuilders, chiefly remembered for its sublime vintage Bentleys, the firm of Vanden Plas was acquired by BMC in 1946 and re-invented as a marque some years later. In the 1960s and '70s the name was applied to top-of-the-range versions of Austin-Morris models, most notably the 1100/1300. Vanden Plas in London re-equipped the car with the kind of luxurious interior long associated with the firm, using plentiful wood-veneer trim and leather upholstery, and fitted a distinctive grille and their own badging. The engine specified was the same twin-carburettor unit fitted to the MG 1100/1300, the 1.3-litre 65bhp version being good enough for a top speed of 145 km/h. Today the Vanden Plas is by far the most collectible of the 1100/1300 family and is highly sought after.
