La piattaforma della Lancia Aurelia ha impressionato fin dal momento in cui è stata lanciata, grazie alla tecnologia che consisteva, tra l’altro, di un cambio posteriore e del primo V6 di produzione al mondo: un gioiello di motore con camere di combustione emisferiche. Ma mentre la B20 GT perfettamente realizzata su misura portava con sé un pizzico di eleganza, fu solo con l'arrivo della B24S Spider a tetto aperto nel 1954, che condivideva l'assetto della GT, che l'Aurelia raggiunse finalmente il suo apice stilistico.
Nel 1956, la piattaforma subì una revisione e, insieme al resto della gamma, fu lanciata una versione aggiornata della Spider: la B24S Convertible. Sono state eliminate alcune delle caratteristiche più eleganti della vettura precedente, tra cui gli attraenti paraurti divisi e il parabrezza panoramico. Ma per molti ne è valsa la pena, con il modello rinnovato che offre una posizione di seduta più comoda, deflettori a molla e un parabrezza con quarti di luce fissi, per non parlare dei 10 CV aggiuntivi.
In particolare, l’esemplare qui presentato è stato riverniciato nell’elegante blu Lancia quasi subito dopo la sua prima immatricolazione e gli interni sono di colore beige (l’abbinamento cromatico originale era argento/bordeaux). L’auto è stata inizialmente trasferita in USA insieme al proprietario e ritornata subito dopo in Italia, da cui il cambio targa, che rimane sempre nera fortunatamente

Lancia’s Aurelia platform impressed from the moment it was launched, thanks to industry-leading technology in the form of unitary construction, a clever rear transaxle, and the world’s first production V-6—a gem of an engine with hemispherical combustion chambers and in-line valves. But while the perfectly tailored B20 GT brought with it a dash of flair, it wasn’t until the arrival of the open-topped B24S Spider in 1954—which shared the GT’s running gear—that the Aurelia finally reached its stylistic zenith.
By 1956, the platform had undergone its fifth series revision, and alongside the rest of the range an updated version of the Spider was launched: the B24S Convertible. It did away with a few of the earlier car’s more stylish features, among them the attractive split bumpers and panoramic windscreen. But for many the trade-off was worth it, with the refreshed model bringing a more comfortable seating position, wind-up windows, and a windscreen with fixed quarterlights, not to mention an additional 10 PS.
In particular, the example presented here was repainted in the elegant Lancia blue almost immediately after its first registration and the interiors are beige (the original color combination was silver/burgundy). The car was initially transferred to the USA together with the owner and returned immediately afterwards to Italy, hence the change of license plate, which fortunately always remains black.
