La MGA è considerata la prima vera MG del dopoguerra. Creata per rimpiazzare la vecchia serie T, la MGA univa un telaio rigido di nuova concezione con il motore B-Series della Austin, ideali per la guida sportiva.
Anche se concepita come un'evoluzione della TF, la MGA fu un'auto riuscita e veramente superiore rispetto ai modelli precedenti. La carrozzeria aerodinamica attirò il favore di numerosi appassionati e in un anno la MG produsse ben 13.000 unità della MGA.
La versione 1600 o MkII della MGA con motore portato a 1.588cc e 80 cavalli, rese quest'auto una vera sportiva capace di raggiungere 100 miglia orarie (160 km/h).

The MGA was considered the first true post-war MG. Created to replace the old T-Series, the MGA combined a newly developed rigid chassis with Austin's B-Series engine, ideal for sporty driving. The sleek and attractive aerodynamic bodywork attracted the favour of many enthusiasts and in one year, the MG produced 13,000 units of the MGA.
The 1600 or MkII version of the MGA with a 1,588cc and 80 horsepower engine, made this car a true sports car capable of reaching 100 mph (160 km/h).
