Il successo senza precedenti del Land Cruiser J4, ne ha fatto una leggenda. Tuttavia, verso la metà degli anni '80, il venerabile J4 iniziò a sentire la sua età. Toyota, assistendo come il mercato si stava evolvendo, ha risposto con un J4 aggiornato, noto come J7. Essere indistruttibili era un elemento importante del marchio Land Cruiser; quindi, Toyota ha impiegato tre anni per sviluppare il J7, assicurandosi che fosse robusto e potente come il suo predecessore. Il J7 doveva soddisfare la domanda di tutto il mondo: dai minatori australiani, passando per gli esigenti americani di campagna, fino alle guide turistiche di safari in Africa e molti altri. Il J7 è in grado di affrontare i terreni più difficili, offrendo allo stesso tempo più stili di carrozzeria, dimensioni del passo e 20 motori diversi. Ciò comporta oltre 100 diverse configurazioni di modello all'interno della linea J7. In particolare, il modello qui offerto è un Toyota Land Cruiser BJ70 LV del 1987 omologato come autocarro 2 posti. L’esemplare, anche se decisamente segnato dal tempo, vanta un unico proprietario e il robusto e infinito motore aspirato da 3,4 litri per 90 CV di potenza, installato sull’ultima versione del precedente BJ42. Prima di farlo circolare su strada però, questo BJ70 ha bisogno senz’altro di qualche cura. Se ben revisionato e restaurato, sarà un mezzo fedele che durerà per… “tutta l’eternità

The unprecedented success of the Land Cruiser J4 made it a legend. However, by the mid-1980s, the venerable J4 was starting to feel its age. Toyota, assisting as the market was evolving, responded with an updated J4, known as the J7. Being indestructible was an important element of the Land Cruiser brand; therefore, Toyota spent three years developing the J7, making sure it was as robust and powerful as its predecessor.
The J7 had to meet demand from around the world – from Australian miners, through discerning country Americans, to tour guides on African safaris and many more. The J7 can tackle the toughest terrain while offering multiple body styles, wheelbase sizes and 20 different engines. This results in over 100 different model configurations within the J7 line.
Specifically, the model offered here is a 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ70 LV approved as a 2-seater truck. The example, even if decidedly marked by time, boasts a single owner and the robust and infinitely aspirated 3.4-litre engine with 90 HP of power, installed on the latest version of the previous BJ42. Before making it circulate on the road, however, this BJ70 certainly needs some care. If well serviced and restored, it will be a faithful vehicle that will last for… “all eternity”.
